News claiming Jamal Khashoggi’s brother and his wife were killed in Saudi Arabia is fake

Lebanese Addyiar website shared news titled “Khashoggi’s brother and his wife were killed and beheaded by Mohamad Bin Salman’s security forces” and attached a photo of disappeared Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi and another photo of a man wearing traditional Gulf clothes.

The website said that masked men attacked “Ahmad Khashoggi” house in Jedda 2 days ago and beheaded him with a sword then stabbed his wife, adding that Saudi police arrived at the crime scene then searched the house and buried the 2 bodies later.

Dozens of news websites shared this news which also included a testimony of a woman who said she lives in the same neighborhood and was presented by ABC news who described the attack as “monstrous”.

Verify-Sy searched for the source of this claim in official Saudi news website but found no results on this alleged crime or on social media.

A close source of Khashoggi family denied Verify-Sy this claim and said the photo shared with this news is for the legal consular Moutasem Khashoggi who is Jamal’s brother.
