This video does not depict the French police attacking Muslims in France.

Accounts and pages on social media circulated a video showing a group of policemen beating a person. Some accounts that published the video claimed that it depicted the French police attacking Muslims, while others argued that the person being abused is the imam of a mosque.

Verify-Sy tracked the published video to verify its authenticity and to verify the allegations made about it.

After the search, it became clear that the video did not depict the French police's assault on a Muslim person, and that it was old and spread about a year and a half before the recent events in France.

The video spread on Twitter after journalist CJ Werleman posted it on March 10, 2019, commenting: "Six Humberside Police Officers (UK) have been arrested for carrying out this vicious attack on a British Muslim man."

This video sparked controversy in Britain at the time and was covered by several foreign and Arab media outlets, including (HuffingtonPost), (BBC) and (Araby 21).
