France won’t reopen its embassy in Damascus
Arab and foreign websites shared al-Hayat newspaper news saying new French president Emanuel Macron will reopen the French embassy in Damascus.
The newspaper quoted French political source saying the French president will reconsider reopening the French embassy in Damascus under his new diplomatic policy in Middle East.
But the French Foreign ministry spokesperson Romain Nadal denied the claims completely saying “The reopening of our embassy in Damascus is not on the agenda” on the ministry daily report.
The French government closed its embassy in Damascus in early 2012 followed by several European Union countries in sanctions against the Syrian regime for oppressing the uprising according to French Foreign ministry statement.
