Verify-Sy held a training workshop on verifying information and combating misinformation in conflict zones, targeting independent journalists and media activists in the Middle East and North Africa, with the aim of introducing participants to the privacy and verification skills in conflict and war zones.
The workshop relied on a training curriculum that was completely based on a book that will be issued soon by Verify-Sy under the title: "Verify...Your Guide to Verification Methods and Combating Disinformation in Conflict Zones", which will be a specialized guide in verifying information and a reference for journalists and information workers. in areas of conflict and war.
The online workshop started on Saturday, November 27, and concluded Monday, November 29, with the participation of seventeen independent journalists and media activists from Syria, Yemen, Egypt and Palestine, and included four main subjects:
1- Defining the conflict and its stages.
2- Raising monitoring skills and dealing with sources.
3- Enhancing proactive verification capabilities, especially in areas of conflict.
4- Proficiency in dealing with open source verification tools.
The workshop was presented by Ahmed Primo, Executive Director of the Verify-Sy platform, co-author of the book “Verify.. Your Guide to Verification Methods and Combating Disinformation in Conflict Zones”, and explained to the participants about:
- The concept of misinformation, how it is made, objectives and motives.
- Conflict areas, the concept and the specificity of verification in them.
- Sources, types and standards.
- The concept of proactive response to misinformation and its components.
- Open Source Investigations Concept “OSINT”.

The aforementioned workshop was one of six training workshops that Verify-Sy plans to hold at a rate of one workshop per month in the context of introducing the aforementioned book and targeting those wishing to enter the field of verifying information from journalists and independent activists or workers and collaborators with media institutions as well as content creators and influencers on social media, as well as workers in several fields who are interested in possessing verification capabilities, especially after the quantitative and qualitative disinformation prevailed with the expansion of the role of social media sites in our lives.
