Social media news pages and personal accounts shared on Friday a video showing a warplane and someone saying it was shot down without mentioning date or location.

Video publisher’s said the warplane was shot by rebels today on Friday 12/1/2018 during “Rad al-Toghyan” battle which was announced by FSA groups to retake areas captured by Assad regime in Hama and Idlib provinces lately.

The speaker didn’t mention the date and location but said the warplane launched an airstrike before it caught fire and the video ends before giving any info on the fate of the warplane.

Verify-Sy searched for the source of the video and turns out it was published on YouTube on 20 March 2017 under the title “shooting down Mig-23 in Damascus countryside” which confirms it is not related to ongoing “Rad al-Toghyan” battle while we can’t verify whether what the person said in the video is correct.

Worth to mention that FSA groups such as Jaysh al-Naser, Jaysh al-Nokhba, Free Idlib Army, Faylaq al-Sham and the Second Army announced on Wednesday the formation of “Rad al-Toghyan” operation room saying in a statement that it aims to retake what Assad forces captured in Hama and Idlib lately
