Social media news pages and personal accounts shared photos showing a pregnant woman lying on the ground with a newborn infant next to her and said she’s a Syrian woman who was forced to deliver the baby in front of the hospital after the hospital refused to accept her.
The pages and accounts said the Syrian woman was denied entry to the hospital because she couldn’t pay in advance but didn’t mention the date of the incident.
Verify-Sy searched for the source of this claim and it turns out this incident happened in mid-2017, the incident was widely shared on social media websites of a Syrian woman who delivered the baby right outside “Saydet Lebanon Hospital” in Jounyie near Beirut after she was denied entry to the hospital because she didn’t pay in advance.
The incident caused a huge condemnation in Lebanon which pushed the hospital to release a statement saying the woman was late and had to deliver outside the hospital.
The statement which was published by several news agencies said the mother was moved inside the hospital and both her and the infant were in good health.
